Rams Begin Season at Wyoming Invite

Both squads will race in Cheyenne at the Wyoming Invite on Saturday morning.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The 2022 season will begin this weekend of the Colorado State men and women cross country team as the squad heads to Cheyenne for the Wyoming Invite. The event will be held at the Little America Golf Course with the women's race starting at 9:00 a.m., and the men to follow at 9:30 a.m.

"This part of the season is very exciting," first-year head coach Andrew Epperson. "We begin the proper transition from summer training into the 'regular' season. While the meet is only a few weeks into the semester, we have logged considerable training since the outdoor season concluded and are eager to lace up on the grass."

The women debut in the USTFCCCA National Coaches' Preseason Poll at No. 13 this week as well as No. 4 in the Mountain Regional – both polls announced earlier this week.

"We return veteran rosters, and the athletes are confident in how to run this course well," added Epperson. "The men have rediscovered their rhythm in training and look to build off the success of their spring, while distancing themselves from the shortcomings of the previous fall. The women are tenacious. Their intensions for this season could not be clearer."

After finishing 17th a year ago at the NCAAs, the women return six runners who ran in the race, including the top-two finishers, Lily Tomasula-Martin and Annabel Stafford. On the men's side, the seven who competed at last season's NCAA Regional, five are back.
