Both Cross Country Teams Land on USTFCCCA All-Academic List

Colorado State men’s and women’s cross country teams earn team awards with addition of individuals
NEW ORLEANS – Both Colorado State cross country teams received All-Academic Team honors by the U.S Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches' Association (USTFCCCA) for the fall 2022 NCAA Division I Cross Country season along with three All-Academic individuals, announced on Thursday by the organization.

It marks the 13th time that both genders have earned the awards in the same season. For the women it is their 18th honor, while the men have gotten the accolade 13 times. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, teams must have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale, including the most recent grading period. The women were one of 249 programs across the country to fall within the perimeters, while they sported a 3.73 GPA. The men were one of 216 programs to gain the honor and they did so with a 3.19 GPA.

Individually, there were 171 women from 88 different institutions who were named All-Academic Athletes for their efforts during the 2022 season. In order to qualify for All-Academic distinction, student-athletes must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top-25 (or 10 percent) at the NCAA Regional Championships or as an All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Earning the honors for CSU were Sarah Carter, Annabel Stafford, Lily Tomasula-Martin. At the NCAA Mountain Regional, the trio finished 6th, 20th and 25th respectively.

The women finished 25th at the NCAA Championship in the program's 12th appearance at the national meet.
