Ross and Casey Honored by Conference for Performances During Two-Win Week

Both given player of the week honors in respective positions

FORT COLLINS- The Mountain West announced Monday that freshman midfielder Mia Casey was selected as freshman of the week and junior goalkeeper Shayna Ross has been selected as defensive player of the week. 

 

Casey scored the second hat trick in program history in the 3-0 win over Colorado College last Thursday. Her three goals brought her season total to four, second most by a freshman in program history, one behind Hannah Gerdin in 2015.

 

Ross stopped all 11 shots faced last week en route to two shutouts. The performances were her 6th and 7th shutouts of the season, tied for second most in a single season in program history. This is Ross' second time winning defensive player of the week honors, the first came the week of September 11th. 

 

The Rams head to Albuquerque for a match against New Mexico on Thursday at 7:30 p.m., before returning home for senior day against San Diego State on Sunday at 1 p.m.
