The pair of Rams were recognized for their efforts by two leading national award organizations.

FORT COLLINS - Colorado State punter Paddy Turner and defensive end Mohamed Kamara were each added to the watch lists for prestigious national awards on Thursday.

Kamara, the nation's sack leader who was recently named a midseason All-American by CBS Sports and the Associated Press, was added to the watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award. The Bednarik Award has been presented to the College Defensive Player of the Year since 1994 and is named in honor of Chuck "Concrete Charlie" Bednarik. Kamara joins fellow Ram Jack Howell on the watch list.

The Central, N.J., native - a team captain as selected by his teammates - currently sits at No. 3 all-time at Colorado State with 27.0 sacks, and he is 1.5 away from tying Brady Smith (1992-95; 28.5) for second all-time and six away from tying Clark Haggans (1996-99; 33.0) for the most all-time. On the tackles for loss chart, Kamara sits at No. 6 with 40.0 and 2.0 TFLs away from moving into a tie for third.

Turner, the Rams' Australian punter, has been as relentless in his community service efforts as he has been on the field where he is one of the nation's top punters. The multi-time Ray Guy Award weekly honoree was added to the Wuerrfel Trophy Watch List which is awarded to the collegiate student-athlete who best embodies Danny Wuerrfel's commitment to being a humanitarian, while honoring a student-athlete who is inspired to serve others and make a positive impact on society.

This season, Turner - who is not allowed to participate in NIL activities due to his foreign visa status - created a partnership with Alliance for Suicide Prevention of Larimer County, donating $20 for each punt inside 20 and has landed matching contributions from the community and fellow student-athletes. He has also served as the keynote speaker at Alliance's main fundraiser this year, and through the Alliance, he is speaking to local groups and schools about the importance of mental health. Turner is also one of Colorado State's most active student-athletes in the RAM Life program where he is a consistent volunteer for service activities with the Special Olympics and Reading with the Rams programs.
