Rams take Freshman of the Week honors for second consecutive week

FORT COLLINS - The Mountain West announced Monday that forward Sofia Coulombe has been named Mountain West Freshman of the Week. 

Coulombe notched five points in the Rams' 3-2 win over New Mexico on Thursday night. She scored the Rams' first two goals and assisted on the game-winning goal with six seconds remaining when she fired a corner into the box that found the head of Avery Vander Ven. The win clinched a spot in the Mountain West Tournament that will take place next week in Laramie, Wyoming.

Coulombe earns her first honors as a Ram but is the third Colorado State player to be honored by the conference this season. Shayna Ross was selected as defensive player of the week twice this season while Mia Casey earned Freshman of the Week last week for her hat trick performance against Colorado College earlier this month. 

The Rams' finish up their regular season this Thursday with a meeting against the reigning regular-season conference champs, the Wyoming Cowgirls. Kick off is at 3 p.m., in Laramie.
