FORT COLLINS- Oliva Fout made history for Colorado State soccer in the 10th season of the program on Sunday. The sophomore became the first Ram to ever earn one of the Mountain West's postseason individual awards. The transfer from Auburn was named the conference Newcomer of the Year, along with making it on the first team and All-Newcomer team.
Fout was one of five Rams to earn a spot on one of the all-conference teams. Joining her were Avery Vander Ven, Mia Casey, Sofia Coulombe and Kaitlyn Abrams.
Fout, in her first year with Colorado State, averaged 0.65 goals per game while shooting .294 percent. She has scored 11 goals in 2023 which is tied for most goals in a single season by a Ram with Caeley Lordemann in 2019.
Colorado State also earned three second team all-conference bids with freshman midfielder Mia Casey, graduate defender Kaitlyn Abrams and junior defender Avery Vander Ven. Casey scored the only hat trick in conference play this season while Vander Ven and Abrams helped anchor a backline that held opponents to four shutouts during conference play.
Vander Ven, Fout, Casey and freshman Sofia Coulombe were all named to the All-Newcomer team for their first seasons in the Mountain West. Coulombe notched five points against New Mexico in a match that clinched the Rams' spot in the Mountain West Championships.
Colorado State has now had an all-conference first teamer in each of the last five seasons. The five players being honored ties for most in a season with the 2019 team.
Colorado State turns its attention to the Bulldogs of Fresno State on Sunday at 2 p.m., in the quarterfinal matchups in the Mountain West Championships in Laramie, Wyoming.
