FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State tight end coach James Finley was named to the Broyles Award Watch List, which recognizes the nation's top assistant coach, the Frank and Barbara Broyles Foundation announced on Tuesday.

Finley's work this season with the Rams' Dallin Holker has been significant as he has helped mentor Holker into one of the nation's finest offensive players, let alone tight ends. Holker was recently named a semifinalist for the 2023 John Mackey Award, the only player from the Group of 5 to appear in the list, as he leads the nation's tight ends in most major statistical categories.

He has also been instrumental in developing Vince Brown II and Peter Montini as both tight ends have been integral parts to the Rams' special teams operations. Montini leads the Rams with 195 snaps on special teams and appears in five of six units while Brown is sixth on the team with 135 snaps across four units. Brown's recovery of an onside kick in the Boise State game was key in the Rams overcoming a 20-point deficit in the final four minutes.

Finley is in the midst of his second year on the Colorado State staff and also serves as a key recruiter for the Rams, particularly on the west coast and in southern California. He is one of 57 assistant coaches to be named to the Broyles Award Watch List and one of five from the Mountain West.

A selection committee of distinguished former head coaches, broadcasters and a committee representing the FWAA will select 15 semi-finalists, five finalists from the list of nominees, and an overall winner.
