Horton Picks Up Another Watch List: Hornung Award

The Paul Hornung Award goes to the nation's most versatile player.
FORT COLLINS - Another day, another preseason accolade for All-American candidate Tory Horton, this time from the Paul Hornung Award.
The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is given annually to the nation's most versatile player, a role and description which suits Horton well after his breakout 2022 campaign.Â
On top of breaking into the school record book with 71 (10th) catches for 1,131 yards (8th), Horton was a force in the punt return game after he was installed as the primary punt returner for the Rams in the back half of the campaign. On the year, he tallied 171 punt return yards on just 11 returns including a 72-yard return for a touchdown against Wyoming. Horton's average of 15.5 yards was the seventh-best mark for a season in program history and currently places him at the third-best all-time at Colorado State.
It's the second preseason watch list for the Fresno, Calif., native who was also named to the Maxwell Award Watch List, given to the nation's best collegiate player, on Monday.

Ram fans can start to fill in their calendars, book their hotels, and secure their tailgating spots for the entirety of the 2023 season as five of the six home games - all of which will be played on Saturdays this fall - have been announced along with the Rocky Mountain Showdown. The home opener against Washington State, set for Saturday, Sept. 2, will kick off at 5 p.m. The Boise State game, slated for Homecoming and Family Weekend, received a 12-day out designation from Fox Sports which means the kick time for that game will be determined 12-days prior to kick off on Monday, Oct. 2.
