Jones Named Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week

Colorado State earns third consecutive offensive weekly award
FORT COLLINS – Colorado State volleyball opposite hitter Malaya Jones was named the Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Rams to a 2-0 week two in conference with wins over San Jose State and Fresno State.

Jones led the team in total kills with 32, averaging 4.57 kills per set. The redshirt-senior also added three service aces and two assists while hitting at a .271 clip.

Also leading the team in total points, Jones added a block to finish the week with 36 points contributed to the Rams offensive efforts. She led the Rams with 20 kills in a Mountain West Tournament championship game rematch against Fresno State Saturday including scoring six kills in a comeback fourth set victory for the Rams to clinch the victory over the Bulldogs and send the Rams to 4-0 so far in conference.

This is the third consecutive Mountain West Offensive Player of the Week award for the Rams as Jones follows setter Emery Herman who was awarded the title two weeks ago and middle blocker Naeemah Weathers who earned the honor last week.

Colorado State will continue its conference season hosting Wyoming and Boise State this week in Moby Arena.
