Casey, Vander Ven first-team selections

FORT COLLINS – With success comes rewards.

After a record-setting Mountain West run, six Colorado State women's soccer players earned All-Mountain West recognition the conference announced Monday. Mia Casey and Avery Vander Ven were named to the first-team in voting done by league coaches;  Olivia Fout was named second team; while Maggie Altman, Kaja Dionne, and Libby Brooker were all selected for the All-Newcomer team.

Casey and Vander Ven were named first-team for the second time, following Casey's second-team selection a season ago and Vander Ven's spot on the newcomer team. In her second season, Casey leads the Rams with seven goals and seven assists totaling 21 points across 1,440 minutes of play, scoring a pair of goals in Sunday's 4-1 victory over Nevada in the quarterfinals of the Mountain West tournament. Vander Ven, also in her second season, has served as a defensive force playing every minute of the season (1,800) recording three goals and three assists, including a game-winning goal against Nevada during the regular-season.

Fout, the Newcomer of the Year and a first-team selection in 2023, had a delayed full return to the team coming off an injury, scoring two goals and adding an assist, all in three of the final five matches of the regular season.

Altman, Brooker, and freshman Dionne all made an immediate impact with the team in their first action as Rams. Altman, a transfer from Nebraska, scored five goals on the season to rank second on the team in points. Brooker filled in for injured starter Shayna Ross in goal and has posted three shutouts while sporting a .77 goals against average and an 86.4 save percentage while manning the net the past 10 contests. Dionne, a true freshman, is tied for third on the team with three goals and tied for second with three assists in her debut season.

Colorado State continues play in the Mountain West tournament with its semifinal matchup against No. 25 Utah State on Wednesday in 5 p.m., a rematch of the 2023 title game.
