Colorado State to face No. 2 Texas, No. 12 Stanford and Louisiana at Lone Star Invitational
FORT COLLINS – Following a successful 4-1 weekend in San Diego, California, the Colorado State softball team will head south to Austin, Texas for its final pre-season road tournament. The Rams will compete in the Lone Star Invitational against No. 12 Stanford, No. 2 Texas, and Louisiana, who is receiving votes in the latest poll. This tournament marks the third of five non-conference tournaments for the Rams before Mountain West play.

What You Need to Know
- Colorado State will open the Lone Star Invitational against No. 12 Stanford on Friday morning at 12:30 p.m., mountain time and will face three ranked or receiving votes teams while in Austin.
- The Rams continue to hold the top spot for pitching ERA in the Mountain West, with an impressive 1.38 combined team effort.
- All five games of the Lone Star Invitational will be streamed on ESPN+ and Longhorn Network.
Scouting the Lone Star Invitational
- Each of the Rams' three opponents were super regional teams in the NCAA Tournament a season ago with Stanford advancing to the World Series semi-finals during its 2023 campaign.
- Host team Texas remains undefeated entering the weekend, with recent wins against previously ranked No. 22 Northwestern, No. 15 Kentucky, North Carolina, then No. 9 Stanford and No. 5 Tennessee.
- Stanford enters Austin with a 5-4 record, earning victories against Mountain West foe San Diego State, Minnesota, UC Santa Barbara and Georgia Tech, and No. 5 Tennessee, placing them above .500.
- Both Texas and Stanford are coming off of the prestigious Clearwater Invitational which featured 12 currently ranked or receiving votes teams.
- Louisiana enters the Lone Star Invitational on a two-game losing streak, after going 1-2 in a three game series at home against No. 22 Baylor. The Ragin' Cajuns will play Louisiana Tech at home Tuesday night before making the trip to Austin.
Game Notes
- Last weekend the Rams went 4-1 at the Torero Classic, tallying wins over Long Island, host team San Diego and two wins over Eastern Illinois.
- Freshman Jailey Wilson was named Mountain West Freshman of the Week with a .571 batting average and a 1.571 slugging percentage. She hit her first and second collegiate career home runs in back-to-back at-bats over Eastern Illinois.
- The Rams are showcasing their ability to reach base this season, with eight players hitting over .300 and 10 players maintaining an OBP above .500 including fifth-year senior Danielle Serna who currently leads the Rams in batting average (.423), slugging percentage (.654) and on base percentage (.559). She also continues to lead the Rams in the circle with a record of 3-1 and an ERA of 0.67.
- Senior Molly Gates hit a .357 batting average during the Torero Classic with five hits in 14 at bats including a double, a home run and three RBI.
- Pitcher Sydney Hornbuckle picked up her third win in the circle with a complete game over San Diego on the final day of the Torero Classic. The senior allowed only a .186 opponent batting average on the weekend.
