FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State softball team (18-12, 1-4 MW) will face off against the San Diego State Aztecs (17-3, 4-2 MW) in a Thursday through Saturday series this weekend during the third week of conference play.

What You Need to Know

This weekend's match up will begin on Thursday at 7 p.m., followed by a game at 7 p.m. on Saturday, and concluding with a 12 p.m. game on Saturday. The adjusted series is due to the Easter holiday on Sunday, March 31.
In the 2023 match up, the Rams emerged victorious in the series against the Aztecs, securing two out of the three games.
The Aztecs are the defending champions of the inaugural Mountain West Conference Tournament for softball and were voted tied for first place in the Mountain West preseason poll.
All three games against the Aztecs will be streamed via the Mountain West Network.

Scouting the Aztecs

San Diego State enters the weekend with an overall record of 17-3-7 and a 4-2 Mountain West record with conference wins over Utah State and Fresno State, going 2-1 in both of those series to start the conference season.
Pitcher Dee Dee Hernandez was named this week's Mountain West Pitcher of the Week, boasting a pristine 0.00 ERA through conference play as she enters the weekend series. San Diego's pitching staff as a whole currently leads the conference with a 2.39 ERA.
Colorado States Maya Matsubara leads the Mountain West Conference with 23 walks, closely followed by San Diego State's Mac Barbra with 18 walks, placing them at the top of the rankings in the conference.

Game Notes

Senior Maya Matsubara leads the Rams at the plate, ranking tenth in the conference in batting average, third in triples, and fifth in runs scored. She continued her strong performance by going 6-11 (.545) over the weekend, notching two RBI, four hits and a home run.
Junior Brooke Bohlender had a standout weekend, also going 6-11 (.545) with two RBI, four runs scored, and a home run against the Wolf Pack.
Senior Ashley York is currently ranked third in the conference for runs scored, sixth for hits, and 11th in batting average. Over the weekend, she went 5-12 (.416) at the plate, including five hits with two being doubles.
After a tough 0-3 weekend against Nevada last weekend, the Rams will look to bounce back on the road this weekend.
