Colorado State falls to San Diego State in Series Finale

Rams return home next weekend
SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team fell to the San Diego State Aztecs in game three of a three game series Friday night, with both teams boasting good pitching and minimal offense.

A total of 11 combined hits between both teams led to a 2-0 final score in San Diego with the Rams unable to bring a run across in support of starting pitcher Sydney Hornbuckle.

Hornbuckle threw the complete game for the Rams in the circle for the second time this series going six innings, allowing only six hits with no walks and four strikeouts. Pitching just under 100 pitches at 95, Hornbuckle recorded six fly outs and seven ground outs.

At the plate, the Rams struggled to string any hits together against San Diego State's pitching duo of Cece Cellura and Cassidy West.

Colorado State totaled five hits, including two from Maya Matsubara who would finish the weekend hitting 6-10 from the plate. Other Ram hits were credited to Peyton Allen, Brooke Bohlender and Jailey Wilson.

Colorado State returns home to Fort Collins next weekend to face the New Mexico Lobos in a Saturday-Sunday series with first pitch set for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 6 at Ram Field.
