Five meets on tap as women look to defend MW title.
FORT COLLINS – The Colorado State cross country program announced its schedule for the upcoming 2024 season on Friday afternoon. The Rams are set to run in five regular-season meets in the buildup to the Mountain West Championships on Nov. 1.
Â
"Our goal for the schedule was to pick meets that will most prepare our team for championship season," head coach Kelly Hart said. "We are excited to compete on very challenging courses, and attend meets with some of the best teams in the country. This schedule will prepare us well for the Mountain West Championships, and help us toward earning a bid for the NCAA championships"
Â
The season begins Aug. 30 at the Wyoming Invite at the Little America Golf Course in Cheyenne as the Ram women seek to win the event for the third consecutive year. Two meets in one weekend await Colorado State in September as the team will split for the Roy Griak Invitational in Minneapolis, Minn., on Sept. 20 and the Roadrunners Invitational in Denver the following day.
Â
A pair of races in October present the final tuneups prior to the MW Championships, beginning with the Colorado Springs XC Open (Oct. 11) followed by the Wisconsin Pre-Nationals in Madison, Wisc., (Oct. 19). Â The 2024 conference championship meet will be run at the USAFA Golf Course in Colorado Springs with a trip to the NCAA Mountain Regional (Nov. 15) in Reno, Nev., on the line. The ultimate goal for the Rams is a return trip to Madison, the site of this year's NCAA Championships on Nov. 23.
