Colorado State defeats Cal Poly and Santa Clara
SANTA CLARA, Calif. – The Colorado State softball team defeated the Cal Poly Mustangs 1-0 and the Santa Clara Broncos 10-8 on day one of the Silicon Valley Classic Friday night thanks to a high effect pitching outing in game one and a strong offensive showing in game two.

- The Rams defeated the Mustangs in the seventh inning with the close game coming down to the wire.
- Pitcher Reagan Wick through her second complete shutout of the season only allowing four hits and recording four strikeouts in a dominant performance.
- Autumn Rutherford recorded the game winning RBI for the Rams with a fielder's choice in the seventh inning, putting the ball in play to score Jac Smith, who ran for Jordan West. West reached via a single earlier in the inning.
- Other Rams with hits include Morgan Coleman and Kyra Smith.
Colorado State – 10, Santa Clara - 8
- The Rams offense came to light in the second inning, taking advantage of two errors by the Broncos to record six runs in the frame. Two off the bat of Morgan Coleman, two RBI thanks to a Kyra Smith single and an Abby Edwards triple was the icing on the cake, adding two more RBI for the red-shirt sophomore. Colorado State was able to hold onto the lead throughout the game to prevail victorious.
- Jac Smith recorded her first career hit as a Ram in the third inning with a single to left field before Brooke Bohlender scored Smith and Rutherford in a two-RBI single to extend the lead to 8-3.
- After Giselle Bentley got the start in the circle for the Rams, going four innings and taking the win, junior Delaney Saugstad earned her first save of the season pitching three innings in relief allowing only one earned run.
- The Rams added two more insurance runs in the fifth inning of the bat of Bohlender again, putting the run total at 10.
- Offensively for the Rams, Bohlender totaled two hits while seven other Rams added one as well.
