Colorado State set to finish Silicon Valley Classic against Santa Clara tomorrow
SANTA CLARA, Calif.  – The Colorado State softball team dropped both games Saturday afternoon on day two of the Silicon Valley Classic, falling to Illinois-Chicago and UC San Diego.

Up Next: Colorado State will continue its weekend at the Silicon Valley Classic Saturday with one final matchup against host team Santa Clara Sunday at 11 a.m. The game was pushed back one hour from its original start time of 10 a.m. due to predicted temperatures Sunday morning.

Illinois-Chicago– 3, Colorado State – 0
- The Rams fell to the Flames of UIC to kick off day two of the Silicon Valley Classic after being held to just four hits Saturday morning.
- Freshman Clarissa Castillo recorded her first career hit in the fifth inning, just before throwing out a runner at the plate from right field in the sixth inning.
- Despite low offensive production from the Rams, sophomore pitcher Reagan Wick went six innings only allowing two earned runs on seven hits with a strikeout. Freshman Karlie Cooledge pitched in relief in the seventh inning, recording a strikeout in a 1-2-3 inning.
- Kyra Smith, Morgan Crosby and Jordan West were the other three Rams to record a hit in the loss.
UC San Diego – 5, Colorado State - 2
- The Rams fell to UC San Diego in game two, still feeling cold of the offensive end while committing three team errors on defense.
- Redshirt freshman Lauren Stucky brought in the first run of the day for the Rams with an RBI single in the fourth inning, scoring Jailey Wilson who reached on a walk.
- Colorado State added one more run in the fifth inning thanks to a single from Morgan Crosby to pull within one run, but UC San Diego added two runs in the bottom half of the frame in response.
- Crosby and Stucky both added a second hit in the game to lead the Rams offensively.
- Giselle Bentley only allowed six hits through six innings in the circle for the Rams, also recording a strikeout.
