Running back recognized for impressive performance in week one

FORT COLLINS – Colorado State's Jalen Dupree was named the Old Trapper Mountain West Freshman of the Week after an impressive week one performance at Washington on Saturday.

Making his first collegiate start, Dupree was a spark for the Rams' offense as he logged 92 rushing yards on 15 carries, averaging 6.1 yards per carry. The redshirt freshman running back broke free for three carries of 15-or-more yards, including a 15-yard touchdown burst that tied the game at 21 just a few seconds before halftime.

The Benton, Ark., native appeared in four games for Colorado State last year, in addition to the bowl game. Dupree logged a total of 153 yards as the Rams' third back, including a memorable performance against Air Force in which he ran for 40 yards and a touchdown.

Dupree and the Rams are back in Fort Collins as they prepare to host Northern Colorado on Sept. 6 for the annual Ag Day game. Kickoff is set for 5:00 p.m. MT, with tickets available on CSURams.com/Tickets.
