Colorado State continues road trip in Texas

SAN MARCOS, Texas - The Colorado State softball team completed its second day of the River State Classic after close losses against Kansas City and Brown.

Game 1: Colorado State 1 | Kansas City, 4

  • The Rams recorded eight hits in today's game against Kansas City.
  • In the second inning, Bradie Poteet-Herrera opened with a single and advanced to third on a groundout. Kaylynn English then drove in Poteet-Herrera with a single to shortstop, evening the score at 1-1.
  • Despite having four extra hits in later innings, the Rams was unable to close the gap.
  • Andrea Jaskowiak pitched three innings, allowing four hits and four runs, with three earned runs against Kansas City. Jaskowiak recorded five strikeouts and issued two walks.
  • Giselle Bentley delivered a strong performance in relief, pitching three innings without allowing a hit, walk, or run. Bentley utilized 40 pitches, 30 of which were strikes, to maintain the scoreless relief effort.
  • Lauren Stucky recorded three hits, including a double. English added one hit and drove in a run. Poteet-Herrera scored one run and collected one hit. Bentley pitched three innings without allowing a hit, striking out one batter in the process.

Game 2: Colorado State 1 | Brown, 3

  • The Rams recorded six hits, with their lone run scored in the fifth inning, but Brown sealed the game with a three-run rally in the seventh.
  • The scoring began in the fifth inning when the Rams broke the deadlock. After advancing to second on a sacrifice bunt by English, Lindsey Hinson scored on a RBI single by Stucky. This gave Colorado State a 1-0 lead after the fifth inning.
  • In the seventh inning, Brown responded decisively. The Rams attempted a comeback in the bottom of the seventh, with English and J. Smith recording hits.
  • Reagan Wick delivered a strong performance from the mound for Colorado State, pitching six full innings with 71 strikes out of 103 pitches, allowing three earned runs on six hits, and recording four strikeouts without issuing a walk. Wick maintained a WHIP of 0.98, demonstrating control throughout most of the game. Bentley contributed in relief, pitching the second half of the final inning, allowing one hit, and inducing two groundouts, helping manage the situation with runners on base.
  • Stucky recorded one hit and drove in a run, contributing to the Rams offensive efforts. J. Smith tallied a double and added a hit while also leading the defense with four assists from second base.
