Colorado State dominates in games one and two in Utah
Game One: Colorado State, 11 | Utah State, 8Â
- Colorado State (21-24, 9-11 MW) secured an 11-8 victory over Utah State (19-29, 7-13 MW) on Friday at LaRee and LeGrand Johnson Softball Field. Â
- Utah State took an early lead in the first inning with five runs, including a grand slam by Jazmin Ramirez. The score was 5-0 in favor of Utah State after the first inning.Â
- In the fourth inning, CSU responded with a three-run rally. Lauren Stucky doubled, followed by an infield single by Jailey Wilson. Bradie Poteet-Herrera then doubled to bring in two runs, and Allyson Moody added an RBI double. Â
- Kyra Smith hit a two-run homer, and Madi Eslinger delivered a two-RBI single, tying the game at 8-8 after seven innings.Â
- In the eighth inning, CSU surged ahead. Autumn Rutherford hit a two-RBI single, and Eslinger added another RBI single, securing the lead. Â
- Andrea Jaskowiak relieved Reagan Wick and provided four and a half innings of work, allowing three earned runs on seven hits while striking out five batters. Giselle Bentley closed the game with a strong performance, pitching three innings, surrendering just one hit and allowing no runs to cross the plate. Bentley's control was evident as she threw 31 strikes out of 57 pitches, contributing to her win-loss record of 7-9.Â
