Lang's Coaching Career
2012-2017: Assistant Coach Cross Country/Track & Field, Cornell
2017-Present: Volunteer Assistant Coach Cross Country/Distance, Colorado State

Zeb Lang enters his fifth season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Rams' cross country and track & field programs in 2021-22.

Since coming aboard, the men’s and women’s teams have won a combined six team titles between cross country, indoor, and outdoor seasons.

Before coming to CSU, Lang spent five seasons (2012-17) coaching the Cornell Big Red (Ithaca, N.Y.), guiding the men’s cross country team and the track & field team in the middle-distance and long-distance events. Among the team accomplishments in Lang's five years with the Big Red were four Ivy League Heptagonal conference team championships in track & field.

Lang’s athletes at Cornell set eight school records and three freshman records on the track. In cross country, his harriers garnered nine All-Ivy League honors and seven USTFCCCA All-Region honors. He mentored eight conference champions on the track, including Ivy League championship meet MVPs Nick Wade (2013 indoor) and Ben Rainero (2016 outdoor). Overall, Lang coached 14 USTFCCCA All-Academic scholar-athletes and 23 NCAA East Preliminary qualifiers in outdoor track & field from 2012-17. Two of his athletes (Brian Eimstad and Ben Rainero) qualified for the 2015 NCAA Cross Country Championships, while Cornell's James Gowans qualified for the NCAA Championships three times (2016 indoor - mile; 2016 and 2017 outdoor - 1,500 meters).

The athletes Lang guided at Cornell include:
- 9 1:51 (or faster) runners at 800 meters
- 12 3:50 (or faster) runners at 1,500 meters
- 6 sub-8:10 runners at 3,000 meters
- 5 sub-9:00 steeplechasers
- 17 sub-14:30 runners at 5,000 meters
- 10 sub-30:00 runners at 10,000 meters

Zeb also coaches a Fort Collins-based post-collegiate group, the "Lang's Bangerz," which includes CSU graduate student Alex Mauro (1:07 half marathon). Lang continues to coach several Cornell team alumni, including sub-four minute miler James Gowans, David Melly (1:05 half-marathon), and George Oliver (2018 Charleston Marathon champion).

Zeb Lang resides in Fort Collins with his wife, Dr. Leah Scolere, an assistant professor in the CSU Design & Merchandising department. They are joined by their two energetic dogs, Reykja and Chip.
