High School: Crystal was the Alaska state cross country champion in 2005. She lettered in three sports while attending West Valley High School in Fairbanks, Alaska, and she was the region cross country champion from 2004-08. She was named MVP of both the cross country and track teams. She was part of the Alaska state team cross country champions from 2004-07 and track champions from 2004-06.

Personal: Crystal was born June 24, 1990, to Pat and Randy Pitney. She has a sister, Kim, and a brother, Logan. She is majoring in health and exercise science.
