2010 (Junior): Won the 5,000-meter run at the Mountain West-Big 12 Challenge (Jan. 23), with a time of 14:34.56...Earned a first-place victory in the mile run at the Don Barrett Air Force Duals (Jan. 30), with a time of 4:11.00...Finished 28th at the Tom Benich Track and Field Classic (April 3) in the 1,500-meter run...Placed fourth in the time of 32:34.14 in the 10,000-meter run at the MWC championships (May 12). Also, qualified for NCAA regionals in the 5,000-meter run.
2009 (Sophomore): During the indoor season Daniel finished fourth place to score in the mile run (4:25.86) at the Air Force Collegiate Invitational (Feb. 13). He recorded two scores in the MWC indoor championships (Feb. 26) finishing in sixth place in the 5,000-meters (15:21.60) and eighth place in the 3,000-meter run (8:46.56). During the outdoor season, Daniel recorded his best time in the 1,500-meters at the MWC championships (May 13) finishing in 11th place (4:02.80).
2008 (Freshman): Daniel competed in distance running at Western State, where he had season-best times in the 800-meters (1:59.88), 1,500-meters (3:55.21), and 3,000-meters (8:49.91).
High School: Daniel played three sports while attending Napier Boys High School in Napier, New Zealand. He finished in third place in the New Zealand school 6,000-meter road race in 2004, and in fifth place in the New Zealand school 1,500 meters in 2005. He was the captain of his cross country and track teams in 2004 and 2005. He holds the senior boys school record in the 3,000-meters.
Personal: Daniel was born Nov. 11, 1987, to Karen and John Wallis in Wellington, New Zealand. He has a younger sister, Grace. He is majoring in political science.
