• Played two seasons at San Diego Mesa College
• Made 54 tackles and picked off two passes as a sophomore in 2024
• Appeared in nine games as a freshman, making 26 total tackles with two interceptions

• Son of former CSU defensive back Ron Cortell, who played from 1985-88
• Played for head coach Bob Hudson at Eastlake High School
• Named an All-Section First Team selection after racking up 84 tackles, seven interceptions and a forced fumble as a senior
