Shanker previously served as assistant director of compliance and associate athletic director for compliance for the Rams before being promoted to Senior Associate A.D. for Compliance in 2017 and Senior Woman Administrator in 2018. Additionally, Shanker previously supervised women’s soccer.
Shanker was a driving force behind the creation of Rambition in the fall of 2013. The female student-athlete group strives to enhance the experiences female student-athletes have as both students and athletes while cultivating a network among one another and women in the community. The overall purpose of the program is to help female student-athletes leave Colorado State University as stronger individuals prepared for the next chapter of their lives.
Shanker works with every area of the department in overseeing CSU's compliance with NCAA and Mountain West rules and regulations. She and her staff educate coaches and administrators on NCAA legislation and rules interpretations, in addition to serving as the liaison to admissions, financial aid, housing and the registrar's office. Shanker works with student-athletes before and after they arrive on campus, oversees their eligibility, and, when necessary, creates applications for NCAA and Mountain West waivers.
A 2012 graduate of the NCAA Leadership Institute, Shanker also serves on the NCAA Division I Legislative Committee and the NCAA Division I Softball Committee. She is a past member of the NCAA Interpretations Committee and has served as a National Association for Athletics Compliance (NAAC) ACE Mentor.
Before coming to Fort Collins, Shanker served for two years (2006-08) as a compliance assistant at the University of Florida Athletic Association. Prior to that, she worked as a graduate assistant in the compliance office at University of Kansas, her alma mater, from 2004-06.
An owner of two degrees from the University of Kansas, Shanker earned a bachelor's in psychology ('03) and a Juris Doctor ('06) from the institution's School of Law. Previously affiliated with the Kansas Bar Association and the American Bar Association, she is licensed to practice law in the Federal District Court in the District of Kansas and in the state of Kansas. She also works with the Minority Opportunity Athletic Association, the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administrators, and the National Association for Athletics Compliance.
