Women complete competition at NCAA Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. - Completing the most memorable season in program history, the CSU women's cross country team today finished 15th of 31 teams at the NCAA's national championship race.
Colorado State, ranked 12th in the latest USTFCCCA poll, accumulated 410 points in a competition in which the lowest total wins. The Rams earned the invitation after winning the Mountain Regional Nov. 10 in Utah, and the Mountain West Conference championship last month in New Mexico.
Five of the Rams' athletes contributed to their final team score. Kirsten Anthony paced the squad in 21 minutes, 23 seconds, finishing 54th overall. MWC champion April Thomas was 67th at 21:31, Heather Loseke was 74th at 21:33, Allison Gohl was 103rd at 21:48, and Melissa Thomas was 112th at 21:52. Meanwhile, Kristen Hemphill (22:20) and Lauren Kleppin (22:23) also completed the course, finishing a respective 157th and 158th, but didn't score.
Stanford, the No. 1 team in Division I-A, had just 145 points to win the national title.
