FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The 21st-ranked Colorado State Rams swept the New Mexico Lobos 3-0 on Thursday night at Moby arena to remain undefeated in Mountain West action in 2015.

The Rams (12-3, 5-0 MW) held the Lobos (9-8, 2-2 MW) to just .130 hitting and 28 kills during the match. CSU earned a .337 hitting percentage with 51 kills.

New Mexico put pressure on the Rams through the first set, but it was strong plays from the front row that pushed the Rams ahead of the Lobos. Alex Reid gave the Rams five kills in the first set, while Acacia Andrews earned 5 points through 2 blocks and 3 kills, winning set the first set, 25-22.

The Rams stormed from behind in the second set, and a kill from Andrews helped pull the Rams from an 11-9 deficit to tie the score. Overall, CSU would score 16 of the final 21 points in the set to take a 2-0 match lead with a 25-16 victory in the second frame.

The third set was the strongest of the match for the front row, where Reid, Jasmine Hanna and Adrianna Culbert pushed the Rams to lead with three kills. After the Lobos scored three-straight late points to pull within four, CSU would take the next two points to win the final set, 25-19.

IN THEIR WORDS…
“I think we could’ve done a better job blocking the middles. I think that I missed some assignments. Their outside balls were high enough that I should’ve been able to block the middle and then go outside. They had varying tempos across the board.” – junior middle blocker Acacia Andrews

“We’ve really been working hard on spreading our offense and I think that’s when we can be most successful. After a while teams can figure out what you’re doing and if you’re setting one or two people, they just stack up on that. Spreading out our offense and being efficient from every position is really going to help us and make us successful.” – senior outside hitter Alex Reid

“We’re still going through growth with this team. We’ve fixed some of our problems and we’re working with some other ones. I thought we blocked the ball well tonight. What I liked was that we slowed their outside hitters really the entire game and we did that with good blocking.” – Head Coach Tom Hilbert

STAT OF THE GAME…
.130 – CSU held San Diego State to .130 hitting for the match, including -.028 in the second set. The Rams have held each of their last three opponents to under .200 hitting.
