Â
Ram fans attending tonight's game at Sonny Lubick Field at CSU Stadium as well as well as a national television audience will see history being made.
Â
On Saturday, the Rams will don State Pride uniforms provided by Under Armour as they host Mountain West rival Boise State. Under Armour has been CSU's official apparel provider since 2013.
Â
The history-making uniforms reflect the state's flag, adopted in 1911 that as undergone a few changes through the years.
Â
Here's a bit of state history for native Coloradans, transplants and visitors to our fair state: The state flag and Rams' State Pride uniforms signify Colorado's blue skies, the gold reflecting the late 1800's gold rush, the white snowcapped mountains and red soil found throughout the state.
Â
So how did we arrive here tonight with State Pride uniforms?
Â
"Our partnership with Under Armour provides for specialty uniforms and the UA design team does a tremendous job driving the creative process," Parker said. "The use of our iconic state flag as the base element for this uniform speaks to the pride across Colorado for the University and also our mission as a land grant institution."
Â
For a bit more history: According to CSU athletics historian John Hirn, this will be the first time in school history CSU's uniforms will sans green. Alfalfa green and pumpkin orange were once the official school colors, still honored annually with the teams' "Ag Day Orange Out" jersey tops, later changed to the current green and gold when Colorado A&M became CSU in 1957.
Â
On a normal trip through the Lory Student Center Bookstore, it's wave upon wave of green and gold apparel. Not so when State Pride merchandise rolled in.
Â
"When the uniforms were rolled out, there was much fanfare and they were very well-received," said John Parry, director of CSU's Lory Student Center Bookstore.
Â
Alongside the uniform rollout were tee shirts, pullovers, hats and polos which Parry and his staff had a hard time keeping on the shelves – as did other vendors.
Â
"They are really popular. When it was first announced, the buzz was good. When you walked into the store, there was blue everywhere," he said.
Â
Parry also said there have been regional and national benefits as well.
Â
"We've received lots of good publicity from different groups. The uniform itself has received very positive reviews."
