Murphy-Pauletto earns program’s first weekly conference honor after historic weekend

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Colorado State freshman forward Ally Murphy-Pauletto has been named the Mountain West Women's Soccer Offensive Player of the Week. The conference announced its weekly accolades on Monday.

Murphy-Pauletto is the first student-athlete in Colorado State women's soccer history to earn a weekly honor from the Mountain West. She adds that to a list of program firsts that she accomplished in the Rams' 5-1 win over New Mexico State, including the program's first-ever hat trick.

The freshman gave the Rams their first lead over New Mexico State on Friday with her first career goal in the matchup's 38th minute. NMSU tied the match in the 46th minute, but Murphy-Pauletto turned over the Aggies inside their 18-yard box in the 52nd minute and fired her second career goal into the upper-left corner of the net to put the Rams back up, 2-1.

With the Rams leading 3-1 in the match's 89th minute, Murphy-Pauletto converted on a cross from fellow freshman Alyssa Yoshida to put the match away and clinch the first hat trick in program history. With that goal, Murphy-Pauletto also became the fastest Ram to reach three career goals, reaching that mark before any Ram ever reached two career goals (Hannah Gerdin – two goals in six matches in 2015). The Rams went on to add one more goal on a Makenzi Taylor penalty kick to finish with a single-match team-record five goals.

The Boulder, Colo., native leads the Rams in goals (three), points (six), shots (nine) and shots on goal (six) this season. She has appeared in all five matches with one start (Aug. 24 at Northern Colorado) in her freshman campaign.

The Colorado State women's soccer team returns to action on the road next week, taking on 2016 NCAA Tournament participant SIU Edwardsville at 6 p.m. MT on Friday. The team returns home on Sunday for the team's Orange Out against North Dakota State, which is slated for a 1 p.m. MT start from the new CSU Soccer Field. Attendance for all Colorado State soccer matches is free.
