The Rams will begin the six-game tournament with a game against host Arizona on Thursday night at 7 p.m. CSU will play two games on Friday against Montana at 12 p.m., and ULM that night at 9 p.m. Colorado State will play another two games on Saturday against Bryant at 12 p.m., and Troy at 2 p.m. The Rams will finish the tournament on Sunday replaying Bryant at 12 p.m.

OPPONENT SCOUT
The Wildcats: Arizona (4-1) opened its season last weekend at the Kajikawa Classic. The Wildcats picked up four wins over the weekend, suffering its only loss to No. 24 Oklahoma State. Arizona run-ruled its final two opponents, while hitting three homers in each of the last three games. The defending NCAA leaders in home runs hit 12 home runs over the five games.

The Grizzlies: Montana (0-5) started its season at the Grand Canyon Kickoff. The Griz suffered losses to Grand Canyon, Pacific, Weber State and No. Oklahoma. Ashlyn Lyons leads Montana with a .400 batting average, while recording three RBI and six hits.

The Warhawks: ULM (3-2) began its season hosting the Mardi Gras Classic. The Warhawks picked up two wins against Grambling State and North Texas on the opening day. ULM also earned a win against Stephen F. Austin. Sydney McKay hit .588 over the Classic with seven runs scored and seven RBI to earn Sun Belt Player of the Week.

The Bulldogs: Bryant (0-0) will start its season this weekend at the Hillenbrand Invite. The Bulldogs finished the 2017 season 12-36 with a 7-9 mark in Northeast Conference action.

The Trojans: Troy (3-0) kicked off its season hosting the Troy Tournament last weekend. The Trojans won the first three games, including run ruling Tennessee State in the opener. Troy had to cancel the final two games against SIUE and Tennessee State
Troy will host No. 13 Auburn on Wednesday night before heading to the Hillenbrand Invite.

LAST TIME OUT
Colorado State started the 2018 season 4-0 for the first time since 2014. The Rams swept their opponents at the Texas Classic last week, with wins over Wisconsin and Texas.

SEASON OPENING RECORDS
Colorado State began the season last weekend and Head Coach Jen Fisher is now 4-4 in season openers after an opening victory over Wisconsin. The Rams are 6-12 in openers since 2000. CSU recorded a 14-5 victory in five innings over Maryland in 2017 in Austin.

RAMS IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY
CSU held a 19-7 mark against non-conference competition in 2017. That includes a 10-3 record across the team's three home tournaments at Ram Field. It also included six wins against teams from the Big Ten or Big 12.

RAMS IN MW PLAY
CSU finished 2017 with a 9-15 mark in league play owning 2-1 series wins over San Diego State and San Jose State - who are tabbed to finish first and second in the Mountain West in 2018. Unsurprisingly, three-time all-conference shortstop Haley Hutton was a standout in league action, toting a .372/.465/.455 slash line with 32 hits and 30 runs scored in 24 games. Hannah McCorkhill had a team-leading six homers against MW foes, while Lauren Buchanan led with 20 RBI.

STALWART SHUTOUTS
The Rams had 12 shutouts on the 2017 season, which is the most the team has had since posting 14 in 2003. Larisa Petakoff and Bridgette Hutton each had four shutouts, while Kaylynn Pierce has added three. Twelve of CSU's 28 wins have come in shutout fashion.

TRANSFERS MAKING A MARK
Transfer Sarah Muzik is making her mark for the Rams as the junior is second on the team with a .500 batting average and slugging mark, while carrying a .588 on base tick. The Hawai'i transfer also has recorded seven hits and is 2-for-2 in stolen bases.

"ROOKIE" MICHELENA
Freshman Ashley Michelena does not look like a rookie through the first four games of the season. The Gilbert, Ariz., native finished her first collegiate weekend with a .727 batting average, 1.091 slugging mark and a .769 on base percentage - all lead the Rams. In her 11 at bats, she has recorded eight hits, two doubles and one triple. She also leads the team in stolen bases (4-for-4).

PETAKOFF'S PITCHING PROWESS
Redshirt senior Larisa Petakoff had a great junior season, holding the team's best ERA at 2.58 across 92.1 innings pitched. After four games this season, she has appeared in two games, earning two wins and not allowing a run to score and just two hits.

GAMBOA HEATING UP AT THE HOT CORNER
Sophomore Corina Gamboa has established herself as a threat at third base. So far this season, Gamboa posted three RBI in her first four games, with two home runs.

NEW COMERS
Colorado State welcomed five freshman and three transfers during the offseason.
Freshmen: Ashley Michelena, Kailyn McVay, Tara Shadowen, Gianna Brown, Jordan Acosta
Transfers: Haley Donaldson (Nebraska), Sarah Muzik (Hawaii), Isabella Navarro (Trinidad State)
