CSU women’s soccer exceeds RamFunder goal of $10,000

CSU women’s soccer raises $11,573 toward discretionary fund
FORT COLLINS, Colo. - The Colorado State women's soccer team and head coach Bill Hempen have announced that the program has exceeded its RamFunder goal of $10,000.
The campaign began on Tuesday, January 20 and lasted through the end of February. Originally, CSU women's soccer established a target goal of $5,000, but based upon the early response from the community, increased its goal to $10,000. The RamFunder program eclipsed both goals, finishing with a total of $11,573 raised toward the program's discretionary fund.
"Gaining support - both physically putting people on the sideline and establishing financial support for an Olympic sport like soccer - is a challenge," Hempen said. "What our program, specifically our student-athletes, has been able to accomplish through community involvement, while representing the university and program with integrity and sheer effort on and off the field, has shown brightly in the results of our RamFunder. We are grateful, humbled and honored to have such incredible supporters and we look forward to continuing our journey together."
The purpose of the RamFunder program was to provide aid in enhancing the new CSU Soccer Field or in funding general improvements. The Rams recently completed their first season at CSU Soccer Field, which is located adjacent to Moby Arena and CSU softball's Ram Field on Elizabeth and Shields Streets. CSU's inaugural match on that new pitch was on Aug. 18, 2017, a double-overtime draw against then-No. 25 Colorado.
CSU Soccer Field represents a permanent home for Rams soccer after the program spent previous seasons at the on-campus Lagoon Field and the Fort Collins Soccer Club. Colorado State played soccer for the entirety of the 2014-16 seasons at The Lagoon and at the Fort Collins Soccer Club in 2013, but until last season, had not previously had an exclusive space for the team to compete and practice on.
In 2017, Colorado State recorded program bests in wins, ties, conference wins, conference ties, goals in a single season, goals in a single match, assists in a single season and assists in a single match. The Rams also had their first-ever all-conference selection, rising junior goalkeeper Hunter Peifer, as well as the program's first CoSIDA Academic All-District selection, Janelle Stone. CSU was also recognized for its academic performance, as the Rams were honored in 2017 with the United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award.
