THE WEEKEND
• The Rams will take a break from Mountain West Conference action and fill their bye week with four games.
• Colorado State will head to Kansas this weekend for a three-game series with the Jayhawks, March 30-31.
• The series will start on Friday with a doubleheader starting at 1 p.m. MT and finish on Saturday at 12 p.m. MT.
• All three games will be broadcast on Kansas All-Access.
• Colorado State will also play on Tuesday, April 3 at Northern Colorado starting at 4 p.m.

ON DECK
• Following the busy bye week, the Rams will return to Mountain West Conference action, hosting New Mexico for a three-game tilt April 6-8 at Ram Field.

RAMS AT A GLANCE
• Colorado State continued Mountain West Conference action last week, giving Fresno State a hard fight. The Rams dropped two-of-three games against the Bulldogs.
• CSU shutout the Bulldogs in game two of the series for the first time in series history at Margie Wright Diamond. The win was also just the second time that the Rams have won in Fresno, Calif.
• Colorado State took an early lead in each of the games, but could not hold on to the lead in the two losses.
• Bridgette Hutton leads CSU from the circle with a 2.44 ERA and a 9-5 record. She recorded a loss against Fresno State, but also hurled eight scoreless innings of her 10 2/3 total.
• Sarah Muzik has been carrying a big bat as she holds a team-best .455 batting average and .505 on-base mark. Her batting average ranks No. 27 in the nation and her on-base, No. 56.
• Corina Gamboa leads CSU with six home runs and is third in batting with a .387 mark. She also has a team-high 21 RBI and seven doubles.

SERIES HISTORY
• Colorado State holds a 1-13 all-time record against Kansas.
• The Rams last played the Jayhawks in 2005 at the Capital Classic in Sacramento, Calif., the suffering a 5-1 loss.
• CSU's lone victory in the series came back in 1998 with a 4-2 win at the Wildcat Classic in Tucson, Ariz.
• Colorado State and Northern Colorado met earlier this season to open the Rams home schedule on Feb. 27. The Rams recorded at 9-4 victory.
• The win was the ninth-consecutive victory against the Bears.
• The Rams last loss against UNC was March 25, 2014 in Greeley, Colo. That loss snapped a six-game series winning streak.

SCOUTING THE JAYHAWKS
• Kansas is also on its bye week and faced SIU-Edwardsville on Wednesday afternoon, recording a 4-1 victory while allowing just one hit - a solo homer in the fifth.
• The Jayhawks started Big 12 action getting swept by Texas last weekend. KU was held to just two runs in the three-game series.
• Prior to the conference opener, the Jayhawks posted a 23-7 record in its non-conference schedule, including a eight-inning win over North Carolina, 8-7.

SCOUTING THE BEARS
• Northern Colorado began Big Sky Conference action last week, post a 2-1 record against Sacramento State.
• The Bears will host Southern Utah on March 30 - 31 before hosting Colorado State on April 3.
• The Rams and Bears met earlier this year in Fort Collins, with CSU earning a 9-4 victory.
• Since the first game, the Bears have gone 10-7 after playing at the Razorback Invitational, Aggie Invitational and Rock Chalk Challenge.
• UNC posted its best records of the weekend at the Aggie Invitational with a 4-2 mark. The Bears also went 4-2 in Lawrence at the Rock Chalk Challenge, dropping two games to Kansas.

LAST TIME VERSUS THE BEARS
• The Rams 9-4 victory improved them to an 8-1, their best start since 2008.
• Kaylynn Pierce recorded her first win of the season. The senior hurled 5 1/3 innings with four earned runs and four strikeouts.
- Sarah Muzik finished 3-for-4 from the dish, including scoring two runs and a triple.
- Hannah McCorkhill and Pierce tallied two RBI.
- Larisa Petakoff came in on relief with runners in scoring position and got the defense off the field unharmed. She hurled 1 2/3 innings and allowed just two hits, while striking out two batters.
- Hannah McCorkhill hit her second homer of the season. Madison Kilcrease hit her first home run of the year. Both were solo shots

RAMS IN NON-LEAGUE PLAY
• CSU is 13-6 in non-conference games this season after picking up five wins at the Colorado State Classic, March 9-11.
• Colorado State will play a three-game series at Kansas March 30-31 and at Northern Colorado April 3 during its bye week.
• The Rams posted a 19-7 mark against non-conference competition in 2017. That included a 10-3 record across the team's three home tournaments and six wins against teams from the Big Ten or Big 12.

FRESNO STATE SERIES
• Despite dropping the series at Fresno State, 2-1. The Rams put up a fight against the Bulldogs in its first Mountain West Conference series away from Fort Collins.
• The Rams offense hit their way into early leads in each game, but could not hold on down the stretch.
• Colorado State picked up a 4-0 victory in the second game to force a rubber match in the final game of the series. The shutout was the first for the Rams at Margie Wright Diamond and just the second win against the Bulldogs in Fresno, Calif.
• The shutout was also just the second time in series history for the Rams - April 28, 1997 at Ram Field.
• The win was the first in Fresno, since May 4, 2014 - the first and only win at Margie Wright Diamond.
• Colorado State lead 3-0 heading into the fifth inning in the final game, but Fresno State scored four runs over the last three innings to steal the series.

SEASON START
• The Rams started the season 4-0 of the first time since 2014 with a perfect record at the Texas Classic.
• Colorado State then improved its record to 7-0 at the Hillenbrand Invite to have its best start since 1997 when the team started 8-0.
• With a victory over Northern Colorado to open Ram Field, the Rams were 8-1 for the first time since 2008 when the team began, 10-1.

CONFERENCE OPENING RECORDS
• The Rams are now 7-12 in Mountain West Conference opening games dating back to the leagues start in 2000 season.
• CSU is 4-5 in home opening Mountain West games, after a walk-off victory over Nevada this season.
• Colorado State is 3-7 opening conference games away from Ram Field.

HUTTON NAMED PITCHER OF THE WEEK
• Junior Bridgette Hutton was named Mountain West Pitcher of the Week on Feb. 21.
• Hutton was the first CSU softball player to earn a weekly award from the conference this season. The honor was also the second of her career.
• The psychology major posted a 2-1 record at the Hillenbrand Invitational, including hurling two complete games and the first shutout of the season with a 5-0 win over Tory.
• The Platteville, Colo., native allowed just four runs in the three games she appeared in, posting a 1.56 ERA.

RAMS LAST SEASON IN MW PLAY
• CSU finished 2017 with a 9-15 mark in league play owning 2-1 series wins over San Diego State and San Jose State - who are tabbed to finish first and second in the Mountain West in 2018.
• Unsurprisingly, three-time all-conference shortstop Haley Hutton was a standout in league action, toting a .372/.465/.455 slash line with 32 hits and 30 runs scored in 24 games.
• Hannah McCorkhill had a team-leading six homers against MW foes, while Lauren Buchanan led with 20 RBI.

TRANSFERS MAKING A MARK
• Transfer Sarah Muzik is making her mark for the Rams as the junior leads the team with a .455 batting average and .534 slugging mark, while carrying a .505 on base tick.
• The Hawai'i transfer also has recorded a team-best 40 hits and is 8-for-8 in stolen bases.

PETAKOFF'S PITCHING PROWESS
• Redshirt senior Larisa Petakoff is off to a great start, holding the team's best ERA at 1.72 across 20.1 innings pitched.
• She has appeared in nine games and allowed just 23 hits and five earned runs.
• She also has earned a save, coming against Montana at the Hillenbrand Invite.

GAMBOA HEATING UP AT THE HOT CORNER
• Sophomore Corina Gamboa has established herself as a threat at third base. So far this season, Gamboa posted 21 RBI with six home runs.
• She is currently third on the team with a .419 batting average and leads the team slugging .720.

COLORADO STATE CLASSIC HISTORY
• The Rams have hosted the Colorado State Classic the last eight seasons.
• CSU went 5-0 this season defeating Utah Valley, St. John's and Idaho State.
• Colorado State is now 31-12 in the tournament, dating back to 2010.
• Last season, CSU defeated Penn State twice during the tournament and rolled to quick wins against Buffalo and Idaho State.
