GAME ONE RECAP
Box Score
As of recently, the Rams once again got on the board early in the first game of the series after Lauren Buchanan blasted a solo homer down the right-field line as the second batter of the game.
Colorado State added to its lead in the third inning after the Rams loaded the bases before Madison Kilcrease took a walk to push a run across. Following a Kansas visit to the circle, Hannah McCorkhill singled to center field to score the second run of the inning and gave CSU a 3-0 lead.
Kansas registered its first hit of the ballgame in the bottom of the fourth with a single. Both team's offense went idle until KU scored in the sixth frame after an RBI single. The Jayhawks continued its momentum in the seventh loading the bases before scoring three runs off a walk and pair of ground outs to force extra innings.
With the game tied 4-4, it took until the 11th inning for either team to score. The Rams retook the lead after Corina Gamboa double to right center to score Ashley Michelena who started the inning with a walk.
Colorado State was a footstep away from ending the game in the 11th after trying to finish a game-ending double play, but it went down as a fielder's choice as the batter was safe at first and a run scored to tie it 5-5.
In the 12th inning, the Rams again took the lead after putting runners on first and second before Michelena blasted a double to right field to clear the bases and give CSU a 7-5 lead. Sarah Muzik followed with a single up the middle to score Michelena and have the Rams hold an 8-5 advantage with three outs to go.
Kansas cut into the lead with a one-out homer to trail by two, but the Rams got off the field and ended the game without any more harm.
