FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State tennis team will head out on the road for the fourth straight weekend to open the spring schedule, this time heading to Lincoln, Neb., to take on Nebraska and North Dakota. The Rams will play the Cornhuskers on Saturday at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT before the neutral site match with the Fighting Hawks on Sunday at 10 a.m. CT/9 a.m. MT. The Nebraska match will be live streamed at http://www.huskers.com/ViewArticle.dbml?DB_OEM_ID=100&ATCLID=211695006.
The Rams enter the weekend with a 4-2 dual record, having gone 2-1 last weekend in Las Vegas. CSU defeated both UC Riverside and New Mexico State on Saturday by identical 4-2 scores before falling to 2018 Mountain West runner-up UNLV in a tight 4-3 match on Sunday.
"We had a great weekend overall last week," head coach Jarod Camerota said. "We had two solid wins and almost pulled off the victory at UNLV. Stella Cliffe beat the #118 ranked singles player in the country. I'm also very proud of how hard Priscilla Palermo fought in the 3rd set against UNLV, with the team score tied 3-3! It's a very nerve-racking position to be in, and she handled it very well! We are looking forward to being back out on the court and continuing to take those next steps forward in preparation for more Mountain West play."
Nebraska is 6-6 overall on the year but 6-3 at home with wins over Creighton, UMKC, South Dakota, Wyoming, Drake and Louisville. One of the Cornhuskers three home losses was a 4-3 defeat at the hands of MW-rival Air Force in January. Last season, Nebraska swept the match over CSU in Lincoln, 7-0.
North Dakota is 4-3 on the season, having on its last two matches at Northern Illinois and over Gustavus Adolphus. CSU won the home match over North Dakota, 6-1, during the 2016-17 season.
UP NEXT
The Rams will open the home part of the spring schedule next Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3, hosting Drake and UTEP. The match with the Bulldogs is scheduled for an 11 am start at the CSU Tennis Complex (weather permitting) and the Sunday tilt against the Miners will start at 10 am. Should the matches be forced inside due to weather, they will be played at Fort Collins Country Club, with Saturday's match starting at 4 pm MT.
