CSU easily wins the doubles point and then all six singles matches in straight sets
LINCOLN, Neb. – Colorado State wrapped up its road trip to Lincoln with a solid 7-0 neutral site victory over North Dakota Sunday morning. With the victory, the Rams improved to 5-3 on the season while the Fighting Hawks fell to 4-5 on the year.
"We did a good job of taking care of business," head coach Jarod Camerota said. "We kept up our energy the whole match! Now it is time for us to get some rest and prepare for our home opener against Drake next weekend. We hope for a great crowd at 4 p.m. at the country club on Saturday!"
CSU quickly picked up the doubles point with 6-1 victories at both the No. 1 and No. 2 slots, as Emily Kolbow and Stella Cliffe took the match at No. 1 and Nancy Ghanem and Priscilla Palermo locked up the team point and No. 2. The Rams then took all six singles matches in straight sets, with only two sets going beyond the normal six games for the win. Emily Luetschwager made it 2-0 CSU with her 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1, with Alyssa Grijalva picking up a 6-2, 6-1 victory at No. 3 to get the Rams within a point of the team victory. Palermo then sealed the dual match win with her 6-0, 6-1 performance at No. 4. Riley Reeves (No. 6), Cliffe (No. 2) and Emma Corwin (No. 5) also earned points in the sweep for CSU.
NEXT UP:
The Rams will open the home part of the spring schedule next Saturday and Sunday, March 2-3, hosting Drake and UTEP. Due to the weather, the match with the Bulldogs is now scheduled for an 4 pm start at the Fort Collins Country Club and the Sunday tilt against the Miners will be announced later this week with the start time.
