Transfers bring depth, understanding to program
FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Colorado State's women's soccer team continues to beef up the roster for the 2019 season, announcing the addition of three transfers, all of whom are eligible to play this season.
Addie Wright joins the Rams from Wake Forest University; Gracie Armstrong has signed on from Washington State; and Kristen Noonan arrives after a stint at Cal State Fullerton. They bring the total to 11 new players who will suit up for the squad this season.
"They all come to us with collegiate experience, and in conferences which play at a high level," CSU head coach Bill Hempen said. "They will bring a different level of understanding to our team."
Wright was on the 2016 roster for the Demon Deacons, but did not see action. A Virginia native, she earned five varsity letters as a prep, as well as all-league and all-state honors her final two campaigns, but decided to take a break from the game. She enrolled at CSU to pursue her degree, and, after playing a year with the club team, missed the game and chose to join the varsity program.
Armstrong is a local product out of Legacy High School in Broomfield. She was part of a Cougars' squad which won its first 10 games of the 2018 season. She played in seven games, including their NCAA first round game against Montana, scoring her first collegiate goal the contest.
Noonan (formerly Kristen Swales) is a California product who earned all-freshman team honors in the Big West. She appeared in 16 games, starting nine. She finished second on the team with five goals scored, coming off 22 shots.
Colorado State's players report on Aug. 5, with the first practice of fall camp the following day. The Rams play a home exhibition match Aug. 14 with Missouri, then open the 2019 regular season at home on Aug. 22 against Marquette.
