- Attendance: The crowd of 24,453 was the smallest for a home opener since 20,683 were on hand in 2016 vs. UTSA. Â The top five totals for home-opener attendance are:

- Home Openers: With the win, the Rams are 71-44-5 (.617) in home openers, 3-1 at Canvas Stadium and 4-1 under head coach Mike Bobo. Â The top coaches in terms of winning percentage in home openers with at least five games: Bob Davis (8-1, .888), Sonny Lubick (12-3, .800), Bobo (4-1, .800) and Harry Hughes (18-9-3, .650)
- FCS foes: Since 1993, Colorado State is 16-2 against FCS opponents. Bobo is now 4-1.
- Quick Strike: CSU scored on the first play of the game, a 75-yard TD pass from QB Collin Hill to WR Dante Wright. The last time the Rams had a one-play scoring drive was Oct. 28, 2017, when WR Michael Gallup caught a 55-yard scoring pass from QB Nick Stevens.
- The last time CSU opened a game with a touchdown was a 100-yard kickoff return by Dexter Wynn vs. San Diego State on Oct. 28, 2000. Wynn was recently elected to the 2019 CSU Athletics Hall of Fame.
- First Start: Joctavis Phillips made his first start, replacing Nouredin Nouili at left guard.
- Sack Attack: The last time CSU recorded seven sacks was at Utah State on Oct. 7, 2017.
- A Winning Lead: The last time CSU led a game during all four quarters was at Utah State on Oct. 7, 2017.
- True Freshman: Three more first-year players saw game action, S Caleb Blake, DE Cian Quiroga and LB Tavian Brown.
PLAYER NOTES
QB Collin Hill
- On the first play of the game, completed a 75-yard pass to Dante Wright for a touchdown. It was the longest completion of his career. That didn't last long, as later in the first quarter, he checked down to RB Marvin Kinsey Jr., who turned it into a 77-yard scoring play. His previous best was a 60-yard completion vs. Utah State on Oct. 8, 2016.
- Threw for 351 yards in the first half. This is the fifth time he has surpassed 300 yards in a game.
- Matched a career high of four touchdown passes.
- Became the first CSU receiver to eclipse 100 yards in a game this season. He finished with seven catches for 111 yards. This game marks the first 100-yard game for the true freshman.
- Second game where he has recorded both a receiving and rushing touchdown. Â First player since Gartrell Johnson III to have a receiving and rushing touchdown in back-to-back games (11-17/11-23, 2007).
- Notched first career touchdown with a 10-yard reception from Hill.
- Recorded a career high of two sacks in a single game. His previous record of 1.5 sacks was on Nov. 5, 2016 against Fresno State.
- Recorded a career high of 3.5 sacks in a single game. He logged one sack in game against Boise State on Oct. 19, 2018 and one sack in game against Wyoming on Nov. 5, 2017.
- First career field goal made.
- He was 0-3 prior in his career, with a miss earlier in the game. The Rams were 0-3 on field goal attempts until his make.
