No. 1 doubles pair Stella Cliffe & Emily Luetschwager are nationally ranked

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – The Colorado State women's tennis team is on the road again as it treks to Lincoln, Neb. to face off with longtime foe Nebraska on Friday at 4 p.m. MT and the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday at 10 a.m. MT.

CSU has played Nebraska annually since 1998, with the Huskers up 21-0. Last year Nebraska bested CSU in a close 4-3 decision. The Rams have only competed against the Coyotes three times and have a 3-0 record against them. In 2017, Colorado State won, 4-2, at home.

Colorado State head coach Jarod Camerota is looking forward to getting back on the competition courts following last weekend's 4-3 win over Grand Canyon, the team's first dual win of the spring.

"We're competing against two well-coached programs," Camerota said. "I want us to continue to play with joy on court. We're playing with the mindset that we get to play tennis, not that we have to play tennis. It's fun to be around that environment as coaches."

No. 1 doubles team of Stella Cliffe and Emily Luetschwager is coming off a 7-5 win last weekend against GCU, where they helped clinch the doubles point for the Rams. The pair is nationally ranked at No. 60 for doubles by the Oracle/Intercollegiate Tennis Association, hallmarking Colorado State's first nationally ranked doubles team in program history.

"It's a great achievement for them and the program. There have been some really good players to come through this program," Camerota said. "For Stella and Emily to be the first nationally ranked doubles team, it's great! I'm proud of them. And I have to give credit to their teammates who push them to be better every time we practice doubles."

Cliffe and Luetschwager are 11-3 in doubles, including the fall season, and are on a five-match win streak. Doubles pair Alyssa Grijalva and Priscilla Palermo are also 11-3 at No. 2, looking to add to their two-match win streak.
