Colorado State finished the Texas Classic, 4-1 after an 8-4 win on Sunday against Wichita State.
AUSTIN, Texas – Redshirt sophomore Taylor Gilmore came out of the bullpen with the bases loaded in the top of the sixth and shutdown Wichita State, recording the final four outs of the game to help Colorado State secure the 8-6 victory. The Rams finished the Texas Classic with a 4-1 mark, dropping their lone game to host-No.6 Texas.
Colorado State took a 6-0 lead after two frames with some timely hitting and Shocker fielding errors. Wichita State got in the board in the top of the third after scoring four runs on four hits. The Rams added to their lead in the fourth frame after Ashley Ruiz hit the first home run of the season with a two-run shot. WSU cut into CSU's lead again in the sixth with two runs on a pair of walks. The bases were loaded when Taylor Gilmore enter the circle on relief in the sixth and struck out the final batter on four pitches. The Shockers put a pair of runners on in the final inning, but Gilmore once again ended the inning with a strikeout.
NOTES
- The Rams improve to 8-5 all-time against Wichita State.
- CSU used three pitchers in the game the lasted over three hours.
- Jessica Jarecki made her second start the season and hurled 2 2/3 innings. Danielle Serna came in on relief, throwing three innings to earn her second win of the season. Taylor Gilmore earned the save with the final 1 1/3 frames.
- Ashley Michelena and Ashley Ruiz each recorded a pair of hits, with Ruiz finishing with four RBI.

Colorado State will travel south of the border next week for the Puerto Vallarta College Challenge in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico starting Thursday, Feb. 13. All games for the week will be broadcast on FloSoftball.
