Ram Goalkeeper Earns Conference Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Two shutout wins, two conference weekly honors for Shayna Ross who was named the Mountain West Defensive Player of the Week and Co-Freshman of the Week, announced Monday by the league office.

The San Diego, Calif. native has been in the net for the entirety of the three-game winning streak for Colorado State soccer, going back to the San Jose State 2-1 victory on Oct. 3rd. Upon returning home, Ross held onto the starting nod and picked up the Rams' first MW home wins of the season and did so without relinquishing a goal in the 1-0 victories over Colorado College and Air Force.

On Friday against the Tigers, Ross collected three saves and faced 13 shots. Sunday proved to be busier as the 5-foot-10 keeper notched five saves on 17 Air Force shot attempts. Ross now has a 3-0 record and 13 saves in her three games played. Nevada's Emily RIch earned the offensive weekly award in addition to sharing the freshman nod with Ross.

The weekly honor is the first for Colorado State since Caeley Lordemann on Oct. 28, 2019.
