Rams Split Day One at Wildcat Invitational

Colorado State started the day with an eight-inning victory over Seattle U before dropping the night game against #3/4 Arizona

GAME ONE | Seattle U (W, 6-4) | Box Score
Seattle U started the scoring with a solo homer in the third to grab a small lead. The Rams responded in the fifth with a three-hit three-run inning to take a 3-0 lead. The Redhawks tied the game in the bottom of the six with a three-run homer. The score remained tied going into extras as CSU had a pair of runners on base before Ashley York hit her first home run of her career to give the Rams a 6-3 lead. Seattle U looked to extend the game in the bottom half of the frame, scoring a run off a RBI double, but three-straight outs secured the victory.

- The Rams combined for eight hits, with Ashley Michelena, Jordan Acosta and Ashley York all tallied two each
- York led the offense with three scored runs and three RBI
- CSU recorded three extra-base hits, all coming from the players mentioned
- Jessica Jarecki earned her second win of the season, throwing all eight frames, striking out five batters and allowing three earned runs

GAME TWO | #3/4 Arizona (L, 9-1) | Box Score
Colorado State scored the first run of the game in the top of the second after Tara Shadowen hit her first homer of the season, a solo shot. From then, the Rams recorded four hits throughout the game, including a pair of singles in the sixth. Arizona's offense scored in multiples in the second and third innings with the help of a pair of home runs to lead 7-1 after three frames. Arizona added runs in the fifth and sixth innings to end the game early.

NOTES
- Tara Shadowen recorded her first homer of the season, a solo shot in the second
- Corina Gamboa, Danielle Serna and Jalyn McGuffin all tallied a hit
- McGuffin recorded her first hit of her collegiate career with a ground-rule double in the third
- Serna made the start in the circle and was tagged with the loss throwing 4 1/3 innings, allowing eight hits and seven earned runs
- Former Arizona player, Taylor Gilmore enter the game on relief in the fifth inning, throwing the rest of the game allowing one earned run
