Rams Pick Up Two All-Mountain West Awards

Gracie Armstrong and Taylor Steinke Earn All-Conference
FORT COLLINS, Colo.  – Junior Gracie Armstrong and senior Taylor Steinke were named a part of the All-Mountain West teams for the spring 2021 season, announced by the conference office Thursday afternoon.

Armstrong, a forward from Broomfield, Colo., earned All-Mountain West First Team accolades for the second time in as many years in the Ram uniform. In Colorado State's seven games, she scored three goals for six points. Two came in the season-opening weekend at Canvas Stadium. The first represented CSU's lone goal in the loss to New Mexico, the eventual Mountain Division Champion, while the second was a game winner in the 82nd minute from 30 yards out to defeat Utah State, 2-1. Her final goal of the season was straight off of her corner kick that curved into goal to tie Colorado College at 1-all in the eventual tie of the same score.

The All-Mountain West Second Team honor for Steinke, of Highlands Ranch, Colo., is the first all-conference award of her four-year career. Like Armstrong, she netted three goals in the seven contests. The first was at home against Utah State when she went low and left to successfully score a penalty kick in the 72nd minute prior to Armstrong's game winner. In the next weekend, Steinke maneuvered around a Falcon and scored unassisted in what would be the game-winning goal to defeat Air Force, 1-0. Her last goal mirrored the first as she converted another penalty kick against the Aggies in Logan, Utah to knot the game at 1-all before USU notched the next goal to win.

Steinke finished her time at Colorado State with 11 career goals including four game winners and 25 points – all representing the No. 2 spots in the CSU record book. The six points moved Armstrong to fourth all-time with 18 career points and her five career goals has her tied in sixth with a senior season to go.

Colorado State concluded its season 2-4-1 with three cancelled contests in to the 10-game spring Mountain West schedule.
