Rams Begin Season at Easton Classic

Colorado State will head to Fullerton, Calif., for five games for the opening weekend.
THIS WEEK
Colorado State will begin the 2022 campaign this weekend, playing five games against five different opponents at the Easton Invitational hosted by Cal State Fullerton, Feb. 11-13. The Rams will face San Diego in the season opener on Friday morning at 10:30 a.m., MT before finishing the opening day against Ole Miss at 2:30 p.m., MT. CSU will finish the weekend with games against Dixie State, Cal State Fullerton and Cal.

The Rams are coming off a season where they finished 16-20 overall and 10-11 in the Mountain West while having 14 games canceled. Colorado State had five games in Mountain West action which were decided by just one run. CSU earned four All-Mountain West honors a season ago and return two of those with pitcher Julia Cabral and outfielder Ashley Michelena.

Colorado State will begin its season against San Diego at the Easton Invitational. Jen Fisher is 5-6 in season openers at CSU and the Rams are 7-14 in openers since 2013, dropping the opener in 2021 to Texas Tech.

San Diego
Colorado State is 5-1 overall against San Diego, including a 2-0 mark at neutral sites. The Rams faced the Toros last in 2018 on the road, suffering their only loss in the series, 7-2. The Toreros posted a 13-29 overall mark and 5-10 in the WCC.

Ole Miss
The Rams are 2-4 against Ole Miss, facing the Rebels in 2020 while in Mexico and suffering an eight-inning loss. CSU is 2-4 overall against Ole Miss, suffering a loss in the last three games. The Rebels finished the 2021 season with a 36-22 record and 12-12 in the SEC as they played in the Tucson Region of the NCAA Tournament.

Dixie State
CSU will face Dixie State for the first time in program history. The Trailblazers recorded a 19-30 overall mark and 6-11 in their first year with the WAC and competing as a Division I program.

Cal State Fullerton
Colorado State and Cal State Fullerton will meet for the 10th time in the series that the Titans hold a 7-2 mark. The two last played in a doubleheader in 2012 in Austin, Texas. Cal State Fullerton had one of the best seasons in program history in 2021, posting a 38-15 overall record and 21-3 in the Big West – dropping its last three games against Long Beach State.

CSU is 3-10 overall against Cal and have faced the Bears 13 times while playing at a neutral site. The two last played each other in 2016 in Palm Springs. The Bears finished the 2021 season 17-20 overall and 3-11 in the Pac-12.
