Rams Split Day Two at Easton Classic

Colorado State cruises past Dixie State, but can’t rally against Cal State Fullerton
FULLERTON, Calif. – Colorado State continued action at the Easton Classic earning its first victory of the season with a 12-0 win against Dixie State, but dropped the second game of the day in a late nighter against Cal State Fullerton, 4-2 on Saturday.

Game One vs. Dixie State | Box Score
The Rams earned their first win of the season, cruising past Dixie State 12-0 in five frames. Colorado State used an eight-hit, nine-run third inning to end the contest early. Colorado State totaled 11 hits in the five frames, led by Gacie Taylor who totaled three. Morgan Crosby and Hailey Smith each added two hits a piece. Peyton Allen finished the game with a team-high three RBI. Jetta Nannen made her first career start for the Green and Gold allowing just three hits in the complete-game shut out.

Colorado State looked to sweep the second day of the Easton Classic, but dropped the second game of the day to host Cal State Fullerton. The Titans took an early lead in the first before the Rams tied the game in the fourth. Fullerton retook the lead in the bottom half of the fourth frame and added an insurance run in the sixth to lead 4-1 with three outs left. The Rams managed to push a run across in the seventh before dropping the contest 4-2.

Colorado State totaled six hits – three extra-base hits – in the loss, each by a different player and a pair of RBI, one by Peyton Allen and the other by Ashley York. Julia Cabral threw the six frames, allowing four earned runs on seven hits, but recorded 10 strikeouts.
