Stonehouse Named All-Pro Following Record-Breaking Rookie Campaign

The Ram great was an undrafted rookie for the Tennessee Titans.

FORT COLLINS, Colo. – Well, folks, he's done it again.

After a record-setting collegiate career which saw him become the NCAA's FBS leader in career punting average (47.8), an NFL draft process that saw four punters get picked without his named being called, a savvy choice to go to the Tennessee Titans in the undrafted market to unseat a long-time franchise favorite, and a rookie campaign where he broke an 82-year-old NFL record, former Colorado State punter and conspiracy theory-enthusiast Ryan Stonehouse had one more feather to put in his cap.

On Friday, Stonehouse became the first Rams specialist to be named to the Associated Press' NFL All-Pro team, earning second team honors from the publication, after leading the NFL in with a single-season record gross punt average (53.1) and ranking No. 4 in net punt average (44.0). Stonehouse's net average was also an NFL record for a rookie.

He is the first Ram since Shaquil Barrett (2019) to earn AP All-Pro honors. Barrett, another Ram who bet on himself, led the NFL in sacks in 2019 with 19.5.

It's been a big week for the La Verne, Calif., native. On Tuesday, the Titans announced that his jersey and cleats from the 2022 campaign are headed for Canton, Ohio where they will be displayed in the Pro Football Hall of Fame.

But, it's nothing new for Stonehouse. Breaking records is just what he does.

Over his collegiate career in Fort Collins, he posted three of the top four single-season punting average marks in program history and capped it in 2021 with a 50.9 mark, a full two-plus yards better than his 2018 record. He was a three-time All-American, earning recognition from Phil Steele (2020, 2021) and Sporting News (2018) during his time in the Green and Gold.
