Defensive Coordinator Summers adds quality and quantity to his coaching staff

FORT COLLINS – Defensive Coordinator Tyson Summers has announced the addition of four defensive coaches to his room, adding Matt Ah You as nickelbacks coach, Clint Sintim to coach linebackers, Nigel Madison at corners and former Ram Trent Matthews as run-game specialist.

Matt Ah You – Nickelbacks
Matt Ah You (pronounced Eye You) comes to Colorado State after spending the past four seasons at Weber State coaching linebackers. Prior to Ogden, Ah You was at his alma mater as an analyst coaching safeties. The BYU grad started his coaching career at Utah State as a defensive grad assistant before spending the 2017 season at Oregon State helping in the linebacker room.

Ah You played linebacker at BYU for three seasons, starting as a true freshman. He took his LDS Mission after his sophomore year before returning for his junior season in 2008. He transferred to Central Washington for his final season but suffered a season-ending foot injury in the opener. After being granted another year of eligibility, Ah You transferred to Utah State in 2010 where a nagging shoulder injury finished his career.

Prior to coaching he was a police officer for Los Angeles County sheriff's department and Santa Ana police department.

"I had an opportunity to meet Matt a couple of weeks ago and instantly knew I wanted him to be part of our staff," said coach Summers. "Matt is extremely intelligent, humble and very confident in his ability to connect and communicate with our players. I was blown away with how he coached and how he forms and builds relationships."
