Colorado State women’s cross country team will make its 13th trip to the Championship, fourth consecutive.
FORT COLLINS – After a sixth-place finish at the NCAA Mountain Regional, the Colorado State women's cross country program received an at-large bid for the NCAA Championship next week in Charlottesville, Va.
Â
"I am so proud of our women," said coach Kelly Hart. "They competed well all season, which put them in a great position heading into regionals to earn a bid. The last mile of the regional meet is where they really fought and earned the trip to nationals— they closed hard, moving up a total of 39 spots, and into sixth place. This is a special group of women, and we are thrilled to get to finish our season in Charlottesville!
Â
The Rams will make their 13th trip to the Championship and fourth consecutive -- and do so as the lone representative of the Mountain West in the field. Sarah Carter led CSU last season, finishing 43rd with a time of 20:15.0 – just missing All-American honors by a mere second. The team finished 25th to be in the Top 25 for the third-consecutive season.
Â
CSU is one of 31 teams selected to participate in the championship. Carter was an automatic qualifier as she finished eighth at the Mountain Regional on Friday.
Â
The NCAA Championship will take place in Charlottesville, Va., hosted by Virginia on Nov. 18 at Panorama Farms Cross Country Course. The women's race will begin at 8:20 a.m. MT.
Â
NCAA cross country fans not in attendance can catch all the action live on ESPNU and the ESPN App beginning at 7:30 a.m. MT on Saturday, Nov. 18.
