Rams Set to Play Four-Game Week Two

CSU goes on the road for the first time this regular season
FORT COLLINS - The Colorado State Volleyball team is set to play a four-game week in the second week of the regular season, traveling to in state rival Northern Colorado Tuesday before heading to the PNW to face Eastern Washington and CSUN at Portland before capping the road trip with a trip to Euguene to face the Oregon Ducks.Â

What You Need to KnowÂ
- The Rams come off a 1-1 opening weekend, sweeping Colgate in three set Friday night before falling to RV Washington in a five-set thriller Saturday night.Â
- Week two will serve as the only out-of-state road trip for the Rams during the non-conference slate.Â
- Colorado State averaged nearly 4,300 fans in Moby Arena across its two games during opening weekend, continuing to rank amongst the nation's best in growing attendance numbers across NCAA Volleyball.Â
- The Rams were picked to finish second in the Mountain West Pre-Season Coaches' Poll earlier this season as they return only one starter from last season but bring in four transfers and a strong freshman class looking to make an immediate impact.Â
- Opening weekend kicked off the 50th Season in CSU Volleyball program history.Â

Scouting the Bears, Eagles, Matadors and DucksÂ
- Colorado State currently leads the series against the UNC Bears with a record of 23-10. In the Rams' last meeting against the Bears in 2024, the Bears took down CSU 3-1.Â
- In its opening weekend, UNC totaled 93 kills against their opponents. Alayha Tessena led the team with 27, followed by Brynn Reines (23), Isabel Bennett (18), and Bella Van Lannen (12).Â
- Eastern Washington dropped all three matches in its opening weekend. The Eagles currently average 67 kills against their opponents 136 kills.Â
- Erin McInnes leads the team in kills with 21. Elle Brugman runs the back row with 29 digs, followed by Anna Bolich with 23.Â
- The CSUN Matadors open their season with three wins, accumulating 161 kills, 69 of them being over Idaho State.Â
- Leah Miller leads the Matadors with 36 kills, followed by Julia Bazylevych (33) and Amaris Smith (32). On the defensive side, Paige Sentes acquired 63 digs and Iye Okolo obtained 10 blocks.Â
- Oregon also started their season with three wins. Valentina Vaulet lead the Ducks with 40 kills and six service aces.Â
- Maria Tabacuks finished the weekend with 36 kills. Holly Mcfadden finished with 15 blocks.Â

Match NotesÂ
- Maria Brun returns for the Rams in her sophomore season as the only returning starter for head coach Emily Kohan, totaling 101 sets played last season with 156 kills and a team leading 42 service aces. During opening weekend she totaled 26 kills, an assist, and two blocks.Â
- Other returners for the Rams include Delaney McIntosh, Aine Doty, Kekua Richards and Jazen DeBina who all enter the role of upperclassman this season, ready to take on an elevated role.Â
- Richards completed the weekend with 277 points of her own, 13 of those as kills, an ace, and 13 blocks.Â
- Notable newcomers for the Rams include two-time Big South All-Conference recipient Eve Wilson who transferred in from High Point this spring as well as fifth year transfers Riley Simpson and Zosia Szczotkiewicz. Wilson totaled 28 kills and six blocks over opening weekend.Â
- The Rams also added five true freshman to their roster ahead of this fall including Sofia Zabjek, who just finished playing with the Canadian U19 National Team this summer. Zabjek had 13 kills in the loss against Washington.Â
- In the Rams' victory over Colgate, Junior Brenna Rowland added five kills and eight blocks to round out the match.Â
